The Modern Industrial Cleaning Method
Dry ice blasting is a form of carbon dioxide cleaning invented in 1987. The method is similar to other forms of media blasting such as sand blasting, plastic bead blasting, or soda blasting in that it cleans surfaces using a media accelerated in a pressurized air stream, but dry-ice blasting is the non abrasive, non-conductive, nonflammable, and non-toxic version of these cleaning methods. The technique can be used for cleaning surfaces, removing paint, or stripping contaminants from a surface. Compared to other blast cleaning processes, dry ice blasting does not accumulate contaminants in the waste stream and thus significantly reduces the amount of secondary waste for disposal. Dry ice blasting removes contaminants and coatings such as surface rust, dirt, and paint with a high-velocity stream of dry ice pellets. Dry ice blasting is a safe, clean process that is approved by the FDA, USDA, and EPA. It won’t harm surfaces, eliminates the need for harsh chemicals and extensive cleanups, and doesn’t require time-consuming scraping.
How Does Dry Ice Blasting Work
Our dry ice blasting machine can be used in unique ways. It is gentle enough to clean leather and fabric interiors, as well as the paint, while, at the same time, powerful enough to strip the paint down from the car if we want. It all depends on the settings we choose and how we use the machine. Dry ice blasting spans three stages of shock and impact, all of which occur in milliseconds – thermal shock, impact, and expansion shock. This cleaning method blasts carbon dioxide pellets at supersonic speeds using compressed air. These pellets, or particles, then sublimate on impact and lift dirt and contaminants off the underlying substrate. The dry ice process is even known to inhibit the growth of bacteria. The dry ice cleaning process also stops the growth of fungi and spores and reduces the presence of other biological contaminants. It is also non-toxic, odorless and suitable for any surfaces – metal, wood and concrete, even on fine wood grains, glass or textiles.
How Could Dry Ice Blasting Benefit Your Business
We know how dry ice cleaning services can benefit your vehicle, but these machines can also be used in more than just the automotive industry. We offer these machines and training on how to use the machines for other businesses to purchase. Give us a call to discuss further.
Dry ice blast cleaning is a great way to deep clean any surface, including Ferraris! In our latest Youtube video, we are starting off by cleaning the suspension and calipers of this Ferrari 458 using the ColdJet PCS60. Eric updated the settings on the dry ice blasting machine to flow on .3, size on .3 and pressure on 30. This project was in preparation for Monterey Car Week in August.
Dry ice blasting is a far superior alternative to traditional methods of cleaning. Our dry ice machine will get your car sparkling clean in record time, while eliminating the need for disassembly and reassembly. Our dry ice cleaning service is also a safe and effective way to clean. Dry ice is non-toxic, environmentally friendly and non-flammable means you can leave your car with us while we use it. It melts directly into steam when in contact with warm surfaces, which helps dislodge dust particles and other contaminants. Plus, it leaves no residue behind – so your car will be sparkling clean when we send it back to you!
